About the Rupert Spira Foundation
The Rupert Spira Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to promote education within the general public of the non-dual philosophy.

Position summary
The Executive Director (ED), in conjunction with the CEO Rupert Spira, serves as an executive officer of the Foundation. The ED is responsible for strategic leadership, operational management, fundraising, financial oversight, and community engagement.
Working closely with the CEO and the Board of Directors, the ED ensures that the Foundation’s mission is fulfilled through effective programs, sound financial management, and strong organisational governance.
This is a part-time position suitable for a seasoned professional who can balance visionary leadership with hands-on management. Fluidity with technology and experience with fundraising, compliance, and communications are essential.

Key responsibilities
1. Governance and legal compliance
– Ensure compliance with all applicable U.S. federal, state, and local laws with assistance from legal counsel.
– Maintain 501(c)(3) status, including IRS Form 990 filings and adherence to charitable purposes.
– Monitor compliance with public-support tests and avoid private inurement or excess benefit transactions.
– Ensure state charity registrations and annual reports are filed.
– Maintain and update bylaws and core policies (conflict of interest, whistleblower, document retention, gift acceptance, etc.).
– Support and collaborate with the Board, preparing agendas, reports, and minutes.

2. Financial oversight and accountability
– Develop and monitor annual budgets aligned with strategic goals.
– Review monthly financial statements and ensure accurate reporting.
– Oversee audits, tax filings, and required financial reports.
– Ensure sound internal controls, transparent accounting, and GAAP compliance.
– Maintain adequate insurance coverage and manage organizational risk.

3. Strategy, program, and mission alignment
– Lead the implementation of the Foundation’s strategic plan.
– Oversee initiatives including YouTube, children’s book publishing, grantee programs, meetings, and film projects.
– Coordinate international events and retreats led by Rupert Spira.
– Evaluate program effectiveness and mission alignment.

4. Fundraising and donor relations
– Develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy.
– Maintain donor records and regulatory compliance.
– Oversee donor acknowledgements and communications.
– Prepare fundraising dashboards and board reports.

5. Communications and public outreach
– Oversee the website, newsletters, and social media presence.
– Ensure communications reflect the Foundation’s mission and brand.
– Represent the Foundation publicly and cultivate key relationships.

6. Coordination with professionals and vendors
– Engage legal, financial, and technical professionals.
– Oversee contractors including accountants, web developers, and event coordinators.
– Engage annually with an independent executive compensation professional.

7. Human resources and administration
– Oversee staff and contractors in compliance with labour laws.
– Maintain organized corporate, financial, and personnel records.
– Foster a collaborative, ethical, mission-driven culture.
– Ensure adequate insurance, data protection, and cybersecurity.

8. Board relations and reporting
– Prepare quarterly board meetings and monthly updates.
– Support board recruitment, orientation, and committees.
– Keep the board informed on legal, financial, and operational matters.
– Ensure annual review of policies, bylaws, and conflict-of-interest disclosures.

Qualifications
– 5+ years of leadership experience in non-profit or mission-driven organizations preferred.
– Strong financial literacy and fundraising experience.
– Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
– Proficiency with digital tools, remote coordination, and social media.
– Familiarity with the non-dual community and Foundation mission preferred.
